It seems that the reading impasse might just have passed. A lot of reality TV, some old favourite DVDs and a few new ones and a day out and about in South London seem to have done the trick for tonight, in a little homage to Simon of Stuck In A Books ‘Weekend of Novella’s’ I am now having a ‘Night of Novella’s’ and have pulled some new and old arrivals off the shelves to have a crack at…
- The Small Hand – Susan Hill
- The Lonely Londoners – Sam Selvon
- The Tin Can Tree – Anne Tyler
- The Portrait of the Mother as a Young Woman – Friedrich Christian Delius
I think these titles could just do the trick. Who knows I may binge read until the small hours, ooh I know how to live on a Saturday night don’t I?
That sounds like an amazing Saturday night!
Clubs are overrated. All that strobe lighting makes it difficult to read.
It was a great Saturday night, I will be doing it more often.
Your mention of strobe lighting and books had mein hysterics.
Ooh, good idea! I think I shall be following the example of Simon and Simon in a future weekend.
I didnt manage them all but I had a good crack it was nice to spend some dedicated time on my own with them.
Oh I hope you enjoy the latest Peirene offering – I don’t think you will be disappointed!
I didnt get to it and have left it on the sofa at my aunties.
Envying you that new Susan Hill and the night in with nothing to do but read! And know what you mean about the reading impasse being almost over. Have barely kept my head above water lately but easing back into the books and blogs now. Happy reading!
The Susan Hill was great (I am playing catch up on comments so you might have seen my post on it).
I wonder if the impasse was a time of year thing?
the sam selvon is one on my tbr pile I loved the new peirene when read it last week ,hope it is a productive evening ,all the best stu
Sam Selvon was a funny one, I liked it and didnt. Will look forward to your thoughts whenever you get to it.
Combination of film and books here – watching the Stepford Wives (again!) and reading ‘Auntie Mame’ – which I can’t believe I’ve never read before. It’s all high camp and big hats round here tonight, and that’s just the cat.
Hahaha I love the idea of a camp cat, actually one of mine Hoyden has had a certain mince about her.
Well I bet you feel alot better today after your night in than I do after my night out.
Seriously though thats a good idea, I have about 20 books which are all around 100 pages so I may just nick your idea and this this myself next weekend.
Ooh I wonder if you can get book hangovers. I do sometimes get brain ache if I read too much though. Let me know if you have a Novella weekend, its a novella idea – oh dear that was a poor joke.
I got the Susan Hill yesterday – can’t wait.
I will have to check if you have read it yet when play blog catch up later today.
