My Books of the Year So Far (And A Chance To Win Some of Them)

I have been wracking my brain to work out if I have ever done a post mid-year about the books I have loved so far that year? I think it is only something that I have done since Booktube, but I could be wrong. I know I have done books that I am excited in the second half of the year, but I don’t think that I have done favourite books so far. Anyway, I could debate that for hours it seems and you don’t need that in your life.

What you might need, or maybe like, in your life is (as part of us catching up) is to know what my books are so far this year and, possibly even better, win some of them. How can this magic happen? Well, I shall insert the video of my favourites books of 2018 so far below and you can watch and then comment as instructed to potentially win a package of some of them.

A brief post I know, but thought it would be a good chance for a catch up AND a chance for you to win some lovely books. Hurray. You have until the end of July. Good luck!

Hi Simon, I really enjoyed watching this and my wishlist has now grown by 7 books 😀 My favourite reads so far this year have been A Marvellous Party by Ian Elmslie, The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce and Tadunos Song by Odafe Atogun…I can highly recommend all these. The books I’m most looking forward to reading are when I hit you by Meena Kandasamy ( after hearing you talk about it!) Reasons to stay alive by Matt Haig and just above my head by James Baldwin. Look forward to your next video, Steph.

    • Ooh lucky seven! I need to check those three books out you recommend. I also really want to try James Baldwin again at some point. I feel my experience with Giovanni’s Room wasn’t the best Baldwin experience I could have had.

What a great (and speedy) video review! I too loved Sing Unburied Sing and Home Fires and am really looking forward to the Samantha Harvey book. My favourite books of the year change daily but I have loved Reservoir 13, A Gentleman in Moscow and The Diary of a Bookseller. I am really looking forward to Kate Atkinson’s Transcription, The Mars Room and All Among the Barley by Melissa Harrison. You have persuaded me to add Crudo, West and The Parentations to my ever growing wish list – thank you (I think?!)
