Great Expectations is actually the one Dickens I want to read, so I’ll enter! (I’ve read Hard Times a couple of years ago and didn’t like it, but I’m interested in Great Expectations, so I’ll give Dickens another chance.)
I have the greatest expectations of Margaret Atwood, simply because I love her work so much!

I guess of authors I haven’t read, probably Dickens. Maybe this is why I’m scared to read him, worried it will be a let down!
If you’re talking about authors I have read, I think probably Jeanette Winterson. I read all of her books, and always expect them to be enjoyable and full of gorgeous prose. Which they usually are, with the odd blip.
I have the greatest expectations of E.F. Benson…which has me scared to actually read Queen Lucia and the following books in the series. I’ve heard so much about how wonderful the Mapp & Lucia books are that I’m afraid of the let down if they don’t live up to their hype. Hopefully, I will get over that and start them next year! 🙂
I have chosen Edith Wharton as my author that I have the greatest expectations of. I own several of her books, have seen numerous blog posts singing her praises, but have yet to read even one of her books. I am very glad that we will be reading one of her books in January.
Mine is Gabriel Garcia Marquez and it’s mostly because he won the Nobel Prize in Literature! I’ve not read any of his work yet. But I’m planning to read his books next year. So I’m buying his books these days and I’ve bought 6 so far! 😀
Paulo Coelho: as I have read much about his inspirational writing, and thought provoking books. At my time of life, I could do with a little spiritual enlightenment!
